OVERVIEW
Stor Valley came to George Cosby Studio to bring a new regenerative, farm-led food and drinks brand to life — rooted in place, but positioned with confidence and care.
Based in the South Downs National Park, the brand takes its name from the Stor River, which rises from chalk and emerges through springs on the northern slopes of the Downs. From the outset, Stor Valley sought to balance its farm shop origins with a more elevated, contemporary brand — one that could sit comfortably in both local and premium contexts.
The project focused on creating a clear and expressive brand world, alongside the initial launch of products including sparkling fruit juices and locally sourced honey.
THE CHALLENGE & INSIGHT
The challenge was one of balance and tone.
Stor Valley needed to feel wholesome and grounded without slipping into rustic cliché, and premium without losing its connection to land, seasonality, and craft. The brand had to communicate care, regeneration, and quality — while remaining approachable and rooted in its origins.
The central insight was that elevation didn’t need to come from polish alone, but from restraint and material honesty.
By letting the brand draw quietly from its environment — chalk landscapes, soft colour, and natural imperfection — Stor Valley could feel contemporary and refined, while remaining unmistakably farm-led.
THE OUTCOME
The resulting brand world brings together elegance and warmth in equal measure.
An identity built around contemporary typography, soft pastel colour blocks, and a distinctive illustrative style created a visual language that feels light, calm, and considered. Hand-drawn charcoal illustrations, applied over rough paper textures, introduce a sense of life and tactility — communicating something wholesome, expressive, and quietly graceful.
This system was carried across the initial product range, from sparkling fruit juice cans to honey packaging, giving Stor Valley a confident and coherent presence at launch.
The outcome is a brand that feels rooted yet refined — one that reflects its landscape and values, while providing a flexible foundation for future growth.
